Introducing SS25 - Fruits of Labour
Partager
Proudly presenting our SS25 collection—Fruits of Labour. Grown and sewn by Stan Ray, it’s a cornucopia of contemporary workwear, plucking from the vine of our rich heritage and serving it up for modern life. Looking to the fruit farms around our native Texas as inspiration, this is Americana with a colourful twist—from summer flannel to light poplin, via washed denim and mellowed-out hickory-stripe canvas.
Starting at the top—the Gas Jacket is a fresh design for ‘25. Taking cues from the classic zip-fronted work-jackets worn by garage workers and petrol pump attendants in the US back in the ‘60s and ‘70s, it’s a short, sharp coverall jacket made from 340gsm canvas. With that smart shape, ever-so-slightly oversized collar and hearty fabric, it’s the kind of do-it-all jacket that works just right over tees, hoodies or pretty much anything else. Whether you drive an immaculately restored El Camino or a three-door hatchback, you’ll find yourself reaching for this a lot this summer.
The 3 Pocket Jacket is another new jacket we’re really pleased with. Fresh from the ground up, it’s our take on a relaxed blazer/suit jacket—with the same hard-wearing detailing and fabric you’d expect from Stan Ray, in a slightly smarter shape. There’s also matching Jungle Pants in that super easy-going slub cotton for those looking for the ultimate summer suit.
The Zip Shirt and the Painters Popover Shirt have both been around for a couple of years now—and are two different (but equally correct) answers to the question of ‘what does the perfect utility shirt look like?’ If you need plenty of pocket space, go with the Painters Shirt, and if you like something a little more streamlined, you’ll probably like the Zip Shirt.
We’ve also made some summer-friendly Flannel Shirts, crafted from breezy lightweight checked cotton (after all, plaid isn’t just for autumn), while the Bowling Shirt is a really easy going short-sleeved shirt with a spread-collar and embroidered details.
As for legwear—all the fan-favourites are present and correct, with core classics like the OG Painter Pants sitting alongside recent additions to the roster like the A-Pants and the oversized Big Job Pants. Our five-pocket jeans range comes in three shapes now—with the streamlined Taper 5, the straight-legged, low-rise Standard 5 or the roomy Wide 5 meaning there’s a pair for every denim-fan.
The Wide 5 are now available as shorts too, for those looking for a classic pair of mid-90s flavoured below-the-knee denim shorts. In fact, this season we might just have our biggest range of shorts yet—with the majority of our pants now available in shinless form. That means relaxed LA style in the shape of the A Shorts and the super-relaxed Jungle Shorts, along with the super-comfy Sweat Shorts and the pool-ready Miki Shorts.
And finally, there’s all our graphic tees, hoods and sweats. Sun-soaked and washed-out is the name of the game here, with worn-in hues combined with prints inspired by vintage fruit stickers. There’s too much to talk about here to fit in this brief article, but before we wind this up we should probably mention the Utility Tee—a laid-back summer tee which features the functional pockets usually found on our Painter Pants. Proper ‘Derek Jarman tending to his garden’ vibes here—trowel sold separately.
So there you go—the Stan Ray SS25 collection. It’s classic workwear, with a sun-ripened flavour. You reap what you sow (or should that be sew?).
